My Mom Cave

I am linking up with Between Naps on the Porch for the Homegoods Mom Cave Giveaway!  My Mom Cave is the master bedroom..  I have a 1692 square foot home that I share with my 3 kids and husband.  There is not a whole lotta places to escape.  My husband offices out of our home our master bedroom.  So really my Mom Cave is the office, bedroom, laundry folding room, blogging space, crafting area and place for the kids to hang out on the computer.  Does it really count as a Mom Cave???  It will have to do!

Here is the good picture:

What I did not show you and refuse to show you is the wall from across from the bed.
This wall is filled with an ugly large desk, TV, ironing board, printer stand and a pathetic excuse for a desk chair (the chair you can see has now lost it's back and arms??).  There is no decor to be found on this wall.
Words can not do justice for the eye sore that I have to look at on a daily basis.

I need some serious design and organizational love in this room!

Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

Palace Garden Tablescape

So I went to drop off a car load of boxes to Goodwill on Tuesday.  Since I was there I figured I should take a look and see if there was anything I might need!  I truly think they should give you a credit towards your next visit.  Maybe I visit there too much!
I normally find a few little things, but not really much to even brag about.
Up on a shelf was a box full of what I think was brag worthy!

16 Piece set of Palace Garden china by Coventry.
I don't know anything about this brand, but I knew it was pretty.

YUM!  I just love anything blue & white.  Add yellow to the mix and I am one happy girl!

Stay and look around!  I love new friends!

Cheers!

She's Practically Perfect to me!

Today is the much awaited Halloween party today in my daughters classroom.  It was a hard decision on exactly what she wanted to dress up as.  Hoochie mama costumes seemed to be what she gravitated to.  Ughh what to do.. So we went through the list of her favorite things.  Immediately Mary Poppins came to mind.  She is a Mary Poppins "nut" and loves talking in a British accent.  Perfect.  Well the Disney costumes that were available were $125 and up???  Really people???  No problem, I know how to shop thrift stores.. I will get a costume together!

My thought process was that everything I buy will be something she can use after Halloween is over.  I purchased a wool/velvet dress coat from a vintage dealer on Etsy.  She can wear it during the really cold days!  Black boots were needed for the season also!  I found a black velvet skirt and white lacy type shirt at Goodwill.  She will be able to reuse these next year for our Heritage Day's at school.  My mom sent me a hat that belonged to my great-grandmother.  I needed a new umbrella and we found a quilted bag (no carpet bags were to be found!) for $5!

With it being 88 degrees as the high today, here is the warm weather version:

She is "Practically Perfect" to me!

Take 2 with the heavy coat will be coming on Saturday night!
I also have a Lego Mini figurine in the making... Say a prayer for me that it works!

Alachua Fall Festival

The sleepy bedroom community of Alachua had their fall festival last Sunday.  Mayberry at it best came out! There was an amazing turn out, great vendors and plenty of entertainment.  Beautiful Main Street is lined with loads of Bradford Pear trees and offers great shade for strolling and browsing the shops.  I had the pleasure of working the during the festival for Prissy Pals
To see my previous post of the shop go here.

We had loads of fun!

Enjoy!

The Yellow Cape Cod ~ My New Blog Crush

So the other day, I was browsing through Rate My Space and found the cutest boys bedroom.  Naturally, I had to check out the other spaces created by this person!  Funny enough she had her blog listed with each space.  I had to go visit!  I immediately had a crush!  Blog crush that is... I keep finding some of the coolest, creative and inspiring bloggers that I can't get enough of!  My latest crush is Sarah at The Yellow Cape Cod

Take a peek of her crazy creative self;

Her mantle was featured on HGTV's 15 Glowing Holiday Mantels!  I so want these Ballard Stockings!

Adorable boy's bedroom..

Black & White Damask, Houndstooth, and Pottery Barn inspired pillows make my heart flutter!
I love, love, love her color scheme!

Her daughter's floating desk was make from an old headboard!

Fun Halloween/birthday Tablescape!

She took these two ugly ducklings:

And turned them into these beauties!

Honestly, I can not do The Yellow Cape Cod justice.  You need to go visit her now!

Burlap Halloween Wreaths

I now have a love/hate relationship with burlap.  It is a shedding, itching mess.  But a beautiful mess indeed!  I love that it is available is a variety of colors that can fit so many designs.  I decided to make a burlap rag wreath that I have seen around blogland.  I itched and have swept up burlap for days after the fact, but the end result was so worth it!

This took 1 yard of black burlap.  I cut the strips 1/2 inch wide and 4 inches long.  The strips were tied onto a wreath form that had four rings on it.  The thin wooden letters came from Joann's Fabrics.  I painted them with an orange acrylic paint and then brushed on orange glitter paint to bling them up!  Strips of ribbon hold the letters on.  This wreath was given to a friend of mine.

Here is the one I made for my garage door
Orange burlap, Larger wooden letters were Mod Podge with scrapbook paper and then blinged up with orange glitter paint, and a cute Halloween bucket that has been sitting in the bottom of my decorations for years.

Lots of ribbon add some pops of color against the burlap!
This is a nice welcome for the kids when coming into the house!

This was a fun simple and quick project.  I made each one while catching up on my soaps!

I am linking up with Cheap Chic Home for Fabric Fun Thursdays!

China Cabinet Display

My china cabinet has fallen along with season.  I just love the greens, oranges with hints of purple and deep reds that fall offers.  Fall looks so nice in my new painted cabinet.
I can't get enough of the it!
Lets take a look..

The turkey platter was given to me by a former boss when I was 21.  I always think of her during this season.  The ironstone pitcher was a goodwill find.  It holds my grandmothers souvenir silver spoons.

I purchased this soup tureen and the matching salt & pepper shakers from Cracker Barrel at the end of December last year for less than $4.00!

The amber depression glass was my grandmothers.  The green glasses were found at the dollar store!

The ironstone soup tureen was another goodwill find!  Glittered pumpkins came from Kirkland's.

I can't tell you how happy this cabinet makes me.  It makes it all worth while to have items that have meaning and bring happiness to you.

I hope all your decor brings happiness to you!
