I found this cute red vintage metal milk can at a thrift store one day.
I knew I had to have it.
The body of the can was wrapped in a cute western toile.
But the fabric was old and torn.
I had the perfect fabric in mind.
After some measuring, ironing, lots of hot glue and a few coats of Modge Podge
I had a great piece for my back porch.
I think it is super cute!

Lacy that is super cute I love it! I have a milk can that my mom gave me, I keep it in my foyer.
My parents had two milk cans just like yours on our front porch in the 70's. Theirs were black with an eagle decal. Yours looks very nice with the updated fabric.
Very cute, and the fabric is perfect. I have a vintage cream can (similar to your can but smaller), and I made it into a great lamp. My mother, who is an artist, tole painted it.
Hi Lacy! Oh, you did good! Your little milk can is adorable and the fabric you chose is perfect.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love the red color! I have some black ones and a yellow one and they are screaming for a makeover! Thanks for the inspiration. Coming over from Met Monday - your newest follower!

I love this covered in toile. So Frenchy pretty!
Lacy - This turned out fantastic. I love the wrapped fabric. I have a poor can that is just dying for a makeover - this is great inspiration. Have a wonderful week! ~ Stephanie Lynn

I love it!!! THat's a one of a kind!
I used to have a milk can but I don't anymore but after seeing yours, I'm going to get one and do it just like yours! I use red on my front porch and this would be perfect. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love the color and fabric!! It fits so well with in your space. I will be sharing on Facebook :D
I like the fabric and color.
We each have our "go to " tools/techniques so I would have folded and pressed under the fabric edges then soaked fabric with liquid starch then applied to can.
That actually looks amazing!! I was worried when I saw the thumbnail! You don't see milk cans in red! :)
First pic made me think "why is she changing the fabric?" but after seeing the toile I know. It looks amazing! Perfect. Jane
Love, love, love! I have an old milk can from my great grandmother - now I know what to do with it -thanks! Jennifer
This looks great!! I love toile! Stopping by from The Girl Creative.
This is what I shared this week:

This reminds me of my grandmother. She has an old milk can sitting on her hearth. Thanks for the memories. Your milk can is lovely!
I love this! A friend gave me an old milk can a while back and I painted it black and put some wall paper border around it. I like your idea much better. Thanks for the inspiration!
It looks really cute. It makes a great spot to put your drink while relaxing out on the porch.
Nice makeover on your milk can! Thank you for sharing it on Masterpiece Monday. Have a great week, Mary :O)
Thank you! You have no idea how you have just inspired me. I "inherited" a milk cannister like this from my great-great uncle (who owned a dairy farm). ANYWAY- I painted it a creamy ivory and it looks so boring. The fabric around the middle is a GREAT idea. Now- to find the perfect fabric...
I have a milk can I need to re do! Your can is gorgeous!
Love it and LOVE the color! Would also love if you would link up to my party at THe Ivy Cottage Blog.

That's really beautiful. Can you stop back and re-enter the party with a thumbnail. I didn't mean to have it on the basic code. I fixed it now. Thanks.
It IS super cute, Lacy! I love the red and white toile on it. Great piece to have outside and it looks great next to the chair with the striped cushion.
Visiting from WUW! : )
Really just perfect, great job, love your blog!
Adorable.:)
Goodness -- this is just lovely! AND you reminded me that I have one I bought and stenciled in the 80's with geese . . . yeah, geese were hot in 80's decor! It's been in a corner of the basement too long -- time to re-do! Thanks for the inspiration!
I think it is a great idea to put fabric on the milk can.
Thanks for sharing.
Michele
I would have never thought to use fabric on a milk can. Thanks for sharing this!
That is so pretty! What a find. I'm a red toile lover as well. Send that over this way if you ever get tired of it. ;)
It looked wonderful before, but you really took it up a notch, its fantastic!
