Confessions of a Magazine Hoarder

Hello, my name is Lacy and I am a magazine hoarder
Can I get an Amen?  I love magazines and study each page. I look up the designers and envy the ads!  I enjoy women's magazines full of how to's, housekeeping tips and recipes.  Celebrity and gossip mags are fun to drool over designer clothes and dream of once again having a great body.  Gardening mags are inspirational and always get me motivated to go outside and tend to the yard.  But Home magazines are like feeding candy to a baby.  I can't get enough.
Throw in a showcase or idea home and I may be awhile!

Men Beware: A good Interior Design magazine can lead to shopping spree's, lots of DIY, and strange men coming into your home looking around and leaving quotes on your kitchen table!

This is a genetic disorder.  And could cause the females in a family to ooh and aah over the pages during family get togethers!

All kidding aside I decided that I had a problem when I was trying to figure out where I would stash the latest bags of magazines that I brought home from my moms.

This is the stacks that I had to choose from while visiting my mom.
There were over 6 months of different magazines and a few 2009 issues.
Pappy was very glad to see them leave his office!

Here they are laid out on my living room floor.
I also have a basket full of Southern Living and Traditional Home.
The green folder is full of articles, pictures, recipes, gardening ideas and
holiday ideas that have been cut out of old issues.

I also have 2 drawers full in my coffee table.
The shelf underneath is also full!
(Yes that is my hubby's leg!  He said I was being silly and would not move!)

My mom has a portion of her armoire full of back issues of her favorites.  Like I said it is a genetic defect!
I try to go through my collection every few months and tear out the pages I like and discard the rest.
Some are just too precious to cut up.

What do you do with your magazines?
Do you need to stand up and introduce your self too?
Remember admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery!

I plan to enjoy a good portion of these this weekend while visiting Lake Placid for Memorial Day!
Lake Placid is the Caladium capitol of the World!  Hopefully I will be bringing some bulbs home to plant!

If you like what you see, look around, chat with me!  I love new friends!
Happy Memorial Day!
Lacy

I hear ya sistah...amen. I have been sneaking mine into work. I actually brought some in last week that were from 2007.
I just can't get anyone to take them home with them.
I tear out the pages I want to keep and then recycle the rest. Then I have to decide what to do with all the pages of recipes that I keep and design ideas I get.
There is no help for our kind you know. I thought maybe a pension because of our affliction but then we would just go and spend it on more magazines.
Big Sigh!!

Lori, Thank you for your comment! I didn't know if anyone would relate or not. My hubby was making fun of me when I told him what I was about to post. Nice to know I am not alone out there.

Hello! I'm visiting from New Friend Friday @ The Girl Creative. Happy Friday!

I had to chuckle, because there is an ongoing battle between the Hubs and myself in whether or not my magazines have been read and can be removed from our home or if they are in queue. :D

Visiting there from New Friend Friday @ the Girl Creative! Love all the magazines! :) They don't last long at our house I cut them up, and mod podge them to different things! But I too enjoying looking through them and scouring them for ideas.

I subscribe to a lot of magazines, and I try diligently to recycle each one when the new issue arrives. I have a hard time getting rid of Southern Living and BH&G -- both have so many great ideas! When I clip things to save, I stick them in page protectors in a three-ring binder.

I'm such a magazine addict! Hate to throw any out b/c I enjoy going back through them. My mom always gives me gift subscriptions for my b-day. I'm about to move and am wondering what to do with all of them. Sure the hubs will gripe about hauling boxes of old magazines. Happy Weekend!

Oh Yes, my name is Laurie, and I am a shelter magazine addict! I subscribe to too many and I definitely keep too many! They are in stacks hidden away all over my home. I'm not even sure if I remember where I have stashed them. One of those "hoarder" reality shows would have a field day at my house. Please let me know if you find a cure. laurie
