Are you ready for Christmas?

Lux Art in Sarasota is!  Lux art is a wholesale silk floral company that offers high end floral arrangements to the trade.  Over the weekend I had the pleasure to visit the Lux Art warehouse for their Christmas Open House.  I was greeted with a red and white striped tent full of previously discounted Christmas decor that was an additional 50% off!  Girls, I got the shakes!!!!!  I am kicking myself for not taking more pics of all the sale items!

Here are a few pics....

They were still unpacking the boxes when we got there.

I really hit the jackpot on a few items that I will share in a future post.  In the meantime come take a tour of the Lux Art showroom.  There were at least 50 trees decked out.
WARNING:  This will be a photo intensive tour!

I wanted these so bad.  The $95 per stem price tag was a deal breaker!

The top hat came home with mom!  It will be perfect on her Circus themed tree!

These balls were at least 3' tall!

I just loved the fairies and their fun chairs.

Love the chest!  Can you tell that those are Santos type angels?

This turned out to be my favorite section!  I love the colors, mermaids, flamingos and of course the fun
50's mannequin just makes me smile!
I wish I would have taken a pic of her backside!  It was complete with buttons to give her the cellulite look!

I hope you got a little taste of the showroom!  If you are ever in the Sarasota area, you must visit.
Christmas is just around the corner!  I can't wait.

I have been working at a store in town helping decorate.  I can't wait to show you some pics of what has occupied my time lately!

Come back soon!  Saturday I will start a fantastic giveaway!  You will not want to miss out!

My To Do List

It has been a crazy week and I have not gotten much done.  Between baseball, volleyball, PTA, FFA, School Open House, a part time job, becoming a hunting widow, cleaning house, grocery shopping... You get the picture!
I decided to write my To-Do list so that I would be more focused on what projects I have that need to get done. It is very overwhelming.  When will I find the time?  OK reality sets in and I know that I will get this done one day.  Here is the list..

  1. Paint Molly's desk and find a chandelier for her room.
  2. Complete the back porch and add a conversation set.
  3. Decorate for fall.
  4. Paint the china cabinet.
  5. Re-grout the master bath.
  6. Paint the cabinets in the master bath.
  7. Paint the walls & ceiling in the master bath.
  8. Change the lighting in the master bath.
  9. Build a built in cabinet for the living room.
  10. Add cabinets in the garage.
I am going to stop at 10!  Babysteps, I keep telling myself.  Some of these goals are easily achieved, but some I know may not happen for quite some time.  But at least I have set some goals.

In the meantime, here is a peek into Molly's room.  We did a makeover for her birthday last December.
She went from sweet shabby chic to sassy hot pink!

 Until next time...

Remember when?

I showed you this?  And said she would be coming home with me soon?

Well, she didn't.  But her friend did!!  Here is the story of how I got my swans.

I grew up with two swans.  I don't remember a childhood memory in our house without the two swans.
They sat on a ledge in our house and cast a shadow at night that could be seen from my parents room.
I used to wake my mom up at night because of those shadows!

Well they were in my mom's house for a long time and my step-dad even took some paint to them.
But I rescued them from the attic and brought them home to have a happy life with my family.
The swans came from Spiegel over 25-30 years ago.

Here is the before complete with bronze paint.

The transformation begins

One simple coat of paint was all it needed.

Then I distressed it with a light sanding and added some definition with Valspar glaze and acrylic paint.

Do you see his broken tail feather? This happened when I was about 8!
They have been around for a while!

So what do you think?
Not bad for an old hand me down!

Mom's Living Room

Previously I have shared with you my mom's house.  She recently got new furniture and I wanted to share a few pics of her living room.  I think it is absolutely gorgeous and best of all very comfortable.
This is a thought out room that serves to be comfortable and offer plenty of seating options.

Notice the antique fish bowl behind the Bergere Chair?  It was my great-grandmothers.

The accessories lend a nod to the circus and of course Disney.
The mirrors really make the room larger and brighter.

I hope you enjoyed another room in Mom's house.

The Round Table

My family spent Labor Day Weekend at my Mom's house in Sarasota.  We shared a few meals at the round table.  So I thought I would share it with you.

This is a simple tablescape with Pfaltzgraff Heritage White dinnerware, simple wine glasses, tropical water goblets and highlights of silver.  I love the contrast of the white against the dark table.

We did have a small hiccup deciding on what the use as the centerpiece.  The centerpiece started with a large gold pear.  My step dad made a trip to the grocery store while we were trying to make up our mind and came home with some pretty pink flowers.  Thank you Pappy! We made a change halfway through with a silver water pitcher and pink poseys!  I loved both of them...

Pappy made an appearance on "The Crusty Nest!"

Thanks Lolo & Pappy!  We had a great time!
