Furniture fit for a Princess!

I have been trying to re-do my daughter room for over a year now.
Why do something today that you can put off to another day right!
I am almost done and I wanted to show you her up-cycled
furniture that has been given a new life.

This is the before.
Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the desk.  But it was the same color.
Both pieces were purchased at a furniture consignment shop for $40 each.

Each piece was sanded and painted with 3 coats of Valspar's Swiss Coffee.
Minwax Finishing Paste was the final step.
The hardware on the desk was found at Lowe's for $6 each.
The frame was found at a thrift store for $4!

I still have a chair to finish and recover, the frame will hold a bulletin board,
I need new lamps and a chandelier.
I have some really fun artwork that I will reveal this week.
And of course I did this very in-expensively.
Hopefully all will be done by Valentines day!

Let me know what you think!

I am linking up with these parties!

  3. Hi The Inspired Nest from Inspired Nesting :)

Love your daughters room, so sophisticated :) I could re-do my 10 yo daughters room every month. They seem to accumulate lots of 'stuff' and I'm always try to make it look organized/cohesive....never ending battle, but a fun one!

  28. I love this. I have been redoing some furniture for my dad that is white as well and I have been trying to figure out top coat after I am finished painting. What exactly is the purpose of the minwax paste? I love how this turned out! Thank you for sharing!

  31. What a fun, pretty, girly room your daughter is going to have! Great job on the painting of the furniture. I'm going to be painting an old dresser that was my grandmother's, then an aunt's, then my parents, then mine, then my daughter's growing up, and now is in my ex's house, soon to be in my dining room to be used as a sideboard. (I'm afraid I won't do a good job) I LOVE the glass drawer pulls you used on the desk; thanks for letting us know where you purchased them.
