Editing Photos

I could sit and play on Picnik all day long.  Editing photos is so fun and can take an image and really make it something special.  Here are a few pictures I took today during our Easter get together with family.

Madeline is 7 months.

She is a beautiful baby in any light!

Inspire Me Thursday **Sugar Swings! Serve Some**

Welcome to my first
 Inspire Me Thursday!

I am constantly bookmarking some really cool craft, cooking and home decor projects that stop me in my tracks, so why not feature some of them each week.

This craft made me laugh and inspired me to think way outside the box.
My son Riley and my friends husband Chris are serious Star Wars NUTS!
I knew this was something they would love...

Sugar Swings! Serve Some made some seriously cool Peep Pops for Easter. I love Peeps, who doesn't?  Take Bunny Peeps, a sucker stick, dip in melted white candy wafers, and add some sprinkle and you have a yummy Easter treat.

But this mom took it up a notch and made Peep Trooper Pops!
Are you kidding me???

These are so stinking cute!
I can't think of a little (or big) boy that wouldn't want these for a birthday party!
Go visit Sugar Swings! Serve Some for the full post.
Stick around and see all her other amazing sugar creations, you will not be disappointed!

My favorite Cupboard- The China Cabinet

There is nothing more I love than creating fun vignettes inside my china cabinet.  This sweet little craigslist find has given me hours of enjoyment.  I change out my display's ever few months.  I like mixing and matching patterns and adding sometimes the unexpected.

I recently purchased Nortake Buttercup pattern.  I first saw it in an antique store in town.  I knew it had to be mine.  Ebay offered the perfect price and it now finds a happy home in my cabinet.  This cabinet also holds some other finds that I cherish!

A Fresh Face Lift

I am always amazed at how paint can change the life of piece of furniture or accessory.  Something old or boring has the chance to become outstanding and really add life to a space.  I have had this tray on my  coffee table for over 7 years now.  I found the tray on clearance at Target and had to have it.  It has always blended in with the finish of the table. Boring!!  Not any more, you may actually remember this little tray now.

Here it is before.  You may have to look hard!

And now after some white paint, distressed and green highlights:

A much needed pop of color!
So what do you think?

Basket Makeover

Meet my sad little basket and it's dull finish.
I purchased this at Goodwill a while back.  I love the shape and size.

My little magazine basket got a fresh makeover today.

A little green paint and a wipe down of dark stain really gave it a new life.
I have a few other pieces that I am working on to help them stand out a little more.
The armoire in behind the basket may get a face lift too!

The Spring weather has made me want a fresher look!

I am linking up with these parties!  Go by and visit them!

From Bad to Worse! My biggest blooper yet!

Have you ever have one of those days where things just
don't go the way you imagined they would???

I always have big plans that go quickly,
 smoothly and work out beautifully.
Then reality sets in.

For those of you that don't know, I have 2 boys.  I love my boys but when boys get older and sweat, they really smell.  I mean they really can stink up a home.  Well I went on a cleaning frenzy one day and decided to Febreeze everything that could absorb odor.  Blindly I grabbed a bottle from under the kitchen sink and sprayed away.  I held nothing back.  Shortly after I had completed one of my boys rooms I began to notice that the spray didn't smell right.  Nope, not right at all.  I was holding the Clorox Clean-Up bottle.  Yep, I was so engrossed in ridding the smelly boy smell that I didn't realize I grabbed the wrong bottle.

Fortunatley the only injured party in my frenzy was the red, Pottery Barn curtains that now were freckled with white spots.  As nasuea set in I put on a brave face in front off the kids, so that they couldn't tease me to much.  The curtains have remained spotted for a few months now.

This is not in just one spot.  Each exposed ripple was peppered with bleach.

To top it off, I didn't realize how bad the sun had naturally bleached out the inside hem of the curtains.

When I saw Sarah's DIY Striped drapes at The Yellow Cape Cod

And Meredith's awesome painted striped shower curtain at Welcome to Heardmont

I knew that I could add white fabric to the curtains and stripe them up to help cover the bleach.
Next I would paint over the remaining red fabric and give it new life.

Sound good right??  WRONG!!
Everything went smoothly with the white fabric.  I actually used blackout liner so that the red would not show through.  The flaw in the plan was to use acrylic craft paint instead of fabric paint.  I was to lazy to run to Michaels for the fabric paint and Joann's didn't have any.  The paint easily rolled on with a foam roller.  I used a sponge craft  brush to cover the worse spots.  I hung the first panel that night.  It looked great!

Until the next morning....

Can you see the dark paint splotches??  Not good!

So what should I do?  Do I get new solid red drapes or do I go with cheap white ones and add red stripes?
I kind of like the lighthouse look!

I am joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesdays!
I definatley think this is a WOW moment!
