TV Backdrop

Do you ever wonder how you could have looked at something broken and unattractive for so long with out fixing it?  I have had this pine armoire for at least 10 year now and it has served us well.  It has been with us in 6 houses.  During one of the moves the particle board that covers the back of the armoire was damaged.

Ugly!

So here was my fix

Oddly I had a piece of fabric that was the perfect size!
Some double sided tape and it was done!

I am not in love with it but it will do until I come up with another option
or get the nerve to attempt built ins!

Let me know what you think!

Armoire Vignette

I enjoyed a little retail therapy Saturday for my birthday!  Off to Micanopy I went with my sweet little girl.  She hates to shop for the most part but you can con her into anything with the promise of ice cream!  Anyway, we had a great time shopping all the little antique shops.  But my favorite it The Shop.  This place is crammed full of beautiful decor for any style.  I could spend all day (darling sweetie pie not so much)!  I took a few pics of some of their displays.

They have these boxwood trees all over the store.

Lots of branch trees too!

Lots of Lori Mitchell characters.
I took this for my mom!  I knew she would love the elephant.

This is what I really want on top of my armoire!
Hopefully this is coming in the near future!

Here is what I bought

I have wanted these large vintage style pocket watch clocks for a year now!
Happy Birthday to me!!!

But I also got this

I love this ballerina frog!  She was broken at the knees and placed in the clearance section.
For $5 I could not leave her!  She makes me smile.  And the best part is that if she gets broken by the kids I won't be heart broken!  But where to put her?

I moved my moss balls from on top of the TV armoire and make a little vignette for her.

The moss topiary got moved to the niche above the hallway.
What do you think?  Is it to much?

Today was the First Day of School!  I thought you might enjoy a picture!

The brown headed girl is my neighbor.  I take her to school everyday.  I love it!

Stripes- Take Two!!!

A few weeks ago I attempted to paint horizontal stripes down my hallway.  To see my first attempt visit here. Well after living with the lovely lavender stripes for a few weeks I knew something had to be done!  So I went back to my original color scheme and saved my hallway from the ugliness..

Here is what it looked like before:

I really tried to love it, but it just didn't grow on me.

Here you can see one wall done compared to the old color..

Taped and ready for paint.

Ahh, much better!

I love the results!  It really helps break up all the beige monotony.

I hope you enjoyed my little hallway makeover!

Blue Springs

I live in Mayberry.  Not really but sometimes it feels like Aunt Bea and Andy might be discussing what I have been up to in the kitchen while dinner is being cooked!  High Springs & Alachua Florida are bedroom communities outside of Gainesville.  With a population of approx. 9,000 between the two, community is not only thrust upon you, it becomes a way of life.  But don't feel bad for me.  I have the best of two towns within 3 miles of me that offer great shopping, recreation and amazing freshwater springs.

The two girls I had staying with me during the Babe Ruth World Series from Lodi, Ca.were a blast!  My family had a great time getting to know these girls and watching them play ball.  They finished 5th overall!  Once they were eliminated from the tournament, it was play time!  So off we went to my favorite springs in town!
Blue Springs Park is a privately owned park that offers swimming, canoeing & camping.  The water is 72 degrees all year round.  It is pretty cold but much needed in the summer time!  The park is perfect for a great day of relaxing and cooling off from the Florida heat!

I will quit rambling on and let you see for yourself!

This is the very long river run that takes you on a nice walk to the river.

This is the actual color of the water!  No touch ups done!

This is the end of the run looking at the river.

The right view of the river.

Left view of the river.

And finally a lone turtle swimming down the river.  I wonder what he is thinking??

I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Blue Springs.  If you are ever this way come by and take a leap off the dock into the deep Blue Springs!

And my family will be hosting 2 girls from Lodi, Ca.

I will be taking a little break to be able to participate in all the banquets, cook-outs, games, concession stand, extra laundry, etc....  The girls come in late Wednesday night.  I anticipate having the girls for ten days!  The tournament direction is expecting this team to be the ones to go all the way!  This should be alot of fun!

So if you don't here from me in the next week or two, I will be at the ball field cheering on my girls!

Let them eat cake, pudding, lemon drops..... Who says dessert can't come first? My kids were glad to here me say that! So the table was set and dessert came first!
